Maytal Sohar

​

Maytal Sohar is a poet, writer and editor, and a lecturer in the Department of Literature at Tel Aviv University, where she co-directs the Creative Writing Program with writer Dror Mishani. She holds degrees in Literature from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv University, and has recently completed her doctoral dissertation on modern Hebrew poetry.
 

Sohar is the author of four books of poetry and prose. Her debut poetry collection, The House Took (Helicon, 2014), received the Ministry of Culture’s Prize for Promising Poets, and her first novel, Nevada (Hakibbutz Hameuchad, 2019), won the Brenner Prize for a First Book. Her second poetry collection, Anything Can Happen (Hakibbutz Hameuchad, 2024), was widely acclaimed by critics. Her latest book, Farewell Notebook | Fish (I Want to Live), was published in 2026 by Hakibbutz Hameuchad.
